You Are More Than Your Blog

My blogging tip for this week is quite simple but profound, “You Are More Than Your Blog.” I recently had a moment. You know those moments when you feel sad, disappointed or frustrated but just can’t really pinpoint why. When suddenly you find yourself overwhelmed by life and in a state of “blah.”

These past 6 months I have been working on a various projects. Some of them involved months of planning and investing my time and energy others only took a week of preparation.  Each project was very different from the other but in all of them, I felt confirmation that this is what I should be doing but at the end of each of them I left feeling unfulfilled and a little disappointed with how they turned out. Though I enjoyed myself in the midst of them at the end I was frustrated.

I just finished our first Summer digital publication! I spent long hours working on it trying to meet my deadline and yesterday afternoon I was able to click on the magical button”PUBLISH.”  When I did I was ready to yodel from a mountain letting everyone know to come and enjoy all of the goodness in this publication but today I sit in a slump. Once again finding myself at the end and disappointed.

As I pondered all of this, the Lord reminded me of something so very important “You are more than your ministry, your e-zine, your own perceptions of yourself, your creativity, your mothering, your ideas…..”  You are my child! You are talented! You are beautiful! You are a fighter! You are faithful!  Everything that has happened to you in your life, the chosen and the ones out of your control like the color of your skin, does not define you but it makes you stronger and wiser. All of it has the potential to bring me Glory. So even if your audience is one, those little big brown eyes that stare at you from below or that one faithful bible study attendee or that one faithful reader on your website and even if it’s just you do it for my Glory.  You honor Me by doing this. You reflect Me in this.

You are more than your blog.  You are more than your business/your job. You are more than your sickness.  You are more than the people you minister to. You are more than your eating disorder. You are more than your depression. You are more than your epic ideas. You are more than you epic failures. You are more than your disability. You are more than the color of your skin. You are more than your financial situation.  You are more than your size. You are more than your temptation. What ever it is that you fill it in with remember He is bigger than any of those things. He is bigger than you but that Greatness resides in you. His strength sustains you. His wisdom guides you. Most importantly He listens to you. You belong to God…. greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4

I hope you find encouragement in this Truth as I did!

Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes we get lost in all the other stuff.

I am so thankful for the reminder that He gave me. Yes, it’s so easy to get lost in the other stuff.

Thanks for linking up with Deidra today. You make a good point. When we get too immersed in the ‘doing’, we sometimes forget about the ‘being’. It’s important to remember both who we are and Whose we are.

And BTW, that ‘state of blah’ when you’ve completed something is very common in most artistic endeavours. After a span of concentrated creative effort, the conclusion usually brings a let down. While we’re glad to have reached the desired goal, there is a strange sadness at ending the process. Writers talk about it all the time and say the only cure is to begin something new.

    Blessings to you.

I just had to pop over from Flamingo Toes & see what this is about. Thank you for this important reminder. I have been having some trials lately & it has so made me loose my mojo! I’ve gotten discouraged sometimes because I don’t have anything fabulous to blog about & I’ve been stuck at the same amount of followers. But . . . LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN BLOGGING! And many of successes are more valuable than lots of hits or followers. Thanks for the reality check!

    Warmly, Michelle
