3 Natural Sore Throat Remedies: Sore Throat Sucker Soothers

lemon ginger soar throat suckers

It’s that time of the year Winter blues and Winter colds. Here are three natural sore throat remedies to soothe that itchy throat. These were featured in the Celebrate Winter Issue that you can find here, free for your viewing pleasure.

I am one of those people who hates to take medicine. I know it’s in my blood, my father is the same way. Though I think I am not extreme in my thinking especially when it comes to my kids.  Even though I see doctors sometimes I like to try a few natural and simple effective remedies before I make an appointment.

I have tried all of the remedies below. I am not a herbalist or a doctor so consult your doctor if throat irritation still persist. Find a good warm temperature for your kids to enjoy their hot drinks below.

1. Honey and Lemon hot drink.

All you need is juice from a lemon, hot water and 2 tablespoons of honey.

2. Lemon Ginger and Mint Tea

4 slices of lemon, 2 cm pc. of ginger handful of mint, 2 cinnamon sticks and boil for 5 min.  Sweeten with honey. Image and recipe is from a Wooden Nest.

3. Sore Throat Sucker Soothers Recipe

This recipe is easy to make, but you do need to make sure it reaches the right temperature.  Otherwise it won’t harden when you put them in molds.

Note: this recipe uses honey and babies under age one should not consume honey.

You can also change-up the flavors: mint, cinnamon…

What kind of ginger did you use? Fresh, powdered, …? Where did you get it?

      Hi Kristi,

I used grated fresh ginger but you can also use the powdered stuff.

April, I’m not sure as we didn’t make very many and they were eaten by the end of the week.
