Kids Party Idea: Dinosaur Party

The dinosaur party theme is a versatile theme that can work for you son or daughter. Girls can dig dinosaurs too! My son turned 6 and he couldn’t make up his mind on what he wanted but I was so glad he chose this theme over Star Wars mostly because I don’t care for commercialized themes.  It’s just a personal preference not because there is anything wrong with them.

If you love our ideas follow us on Twitter, Pinterest or Facebook and our readers preferred way via email.

Anyways back to our Dinosaur party, it was a blast and the kids loved all the simple activities and dinosaur themed treats.

Kids Party Idea: Dinosaur Party

Invites:

I always forget to snap a photo of the invites mostly because I am making the same day and trying to get them to his classmates before the end of the day. Basically, I used plastic eggs and I put an invite inside it. You can get creative and also put a plastic dino in it or a gummy dino.

The Cake

dinosaur cake

This dinosaur cake made by my neighbor who has a cake making business, turned out amazing and delicious! It’s chocolate with caramel filling and fondant. I usually make their cakes but with such a large amount of people coming to the party I thought I’d focus on other things like the decor, activities, cleaning my house and what not.

The Party Favors

I had a really hard time deciding on this because there were so many options to go with. I really wanted to make them their own personal volcano but that didn’t happen. Then there was dinosaur soap with a toy dinosaur inside, but realistically that involved too much work for me. So this was the perfect gift for our little explorers. It’s practical so it can be used again by their parents for painting and cooking or the kids for pretend play.  They used this favor at the party for our excavation hunt.  They really got into it. It was a paint brush with a dinosaur sticker on it and a mini strainer kept together with ribbon.

Food

Dinosaur eggs- grapes

Explorer rocks – White chocolate caramel popcorn

I found the perfect fabric to go with the colors of our party.

Dinosaur Landing – Pudding cups with oreo cookie crumbs and gummy dinosaurs on top.

Dinosaur Toe Nails- Cone shaped chips

Lava juice- I found mini juice bottle and covered them in fun paper that coordinated with our party colors.

Brontosaurus Mini Burgers – I baked mini burgers in a pan. Baking so much easier and faster than grilling.

I also had Dinosaur ice. I froze dinosaur gummies in an ice tray for their drinks.

It should say “Paleontologist tools” not “Archaeologist tools” The two are not at all related.

Thx, I thought about that but since they were digging for candy, treasures and bones we left it archaelogist tools since they also go digging.

Okay, where did you get the small sieves, or strainers? I can not find any smaller than three inches or all metal ones that are somewhat pricey. Thanks!!

Amy, Sorry you can’t find them. I bought mine outside of the U.S. I am not sure what your budget is but I would have preferred to use these cute beach buckets and tools then my sieves: http://www.orientaltrading.com/colorful-beach-play-sets-a2-16_360.fltr?Ntt=beach%20toys Or you maybe able to find sand sieves at the dollar store which would better for “digging” up bones. good luck
