Easy Vanilla Chai Latte

vanilla chai tea

It’s still cold here. Winter has felt like an eternity even though spring is officially here.  Today I was so cold, I was tempted to walk around with a scarf on in my house.  We don’t have central heat and air so to warm up I either: exercise, bake or build a fire.  I didn’t have the energy to exercise and baking and building a fire would take too long. So what I did instead was make me something deliciously creamy and hot, a Vanilla Chai Latte.  This took less than 5 minutes to whip up and I was nice in warm on the inside. Starbucks move over because this was not only yummy it cost me less than $1 to make.

Since I homeschool I have my son who keeps me company all day and there was no way I would be able to enjoy this deliciousness without sharing some with him.  So I made him a kid version of my drink, Vanilla Cinnamon Milk which I’m sharing this over at Kids Activities Blog with my “Cooking with Kids & Learning Spanish” series I have going on.

I’ve actually been making this for my kids to warm up with before they leave to school mostly because I’ve forgotten to buy chocolate milk. Apparently, my kids can’t drink milk without something in it. I was the same way as a kid so I usually let them have their chocolate milk. I guess that’s better than them not drinking any milk at all. Hey don’t judge me :).

Easy Vanilla Chai Latte Recipe

  • 1 bag of Chai Tea
  • 2 cps of skim or low fat milk
  • cinnamon stick
  • 1.5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1tsp vanilla extract

1. Put all of the above ingredients in a small to medium sauce pan and stir for about 5 minutes or until the mixture is hot but not boiling.

2. Remove the cinnamon stick and pour into your favorite mug.

Top with some delicious whipped cream.
