One thing I feel strongly about is celebrating our American holidays abroad. I do this mostly for my children, I want them to have memories and traditions that connect them to their culture. If you've followed my blog for some time you know that we have quite a few cultures that we take into account when holidays roll around: Mexican, North American and Ecuadorian. I really like the holidays that let us focus on one particular culture like 4th of July or Cinco de Mayo. We have been going back ... continue reading...

Our Life in Pictures
Well, this is only a small glimpse of our life here in Quito, Ecuador. We love the slow paced life here. I regularly get to watch them play hide and seek, tag, pretend play with their friends of ALL ages, it's precious. We love the majestic volcanoes that surround us and remind us of His glory and beauty. We love the community of friends that we've been able to enjoy. We love all ... continue reading...
Traveling Adventures: Galapagos with Kids
We snorkeled alongside of penguins, we played at the beach with sea lions and we basked in the sun with the iguanas. I'm partly joking but the bond you forge as you discover, explore and ... continue reading...

The celebrations seem more religious in nature and celebrated in a very cultural form as you can see from most of my pictures below. "In Brazil and many other countries, this period between Epiphany and Fat Tuesday is known as ... continue reading...
Mothering on the Mission Field and the Courage to Make it Home
I sat in an uncomfortably cold seat with puffy eyes from crying and a heavy heart from all the goodbyes that tore open into my soul. We were now headed to our new home. With every passing hour and with every announcement that the pilot made about our arrival, the reality was sinking in. We did it; we were headed to South America! "Oh crap, what did we just do? What were we thinking?" These were just some of the thoughts that ran through my mind. And in the blink of an eye, we had ... continue reading...
