Thick, Creamy & Delicious Chocolate Shake {secret ingredient}
There’s something about that ice cream scoop in your shake that makes it thick and creamy and not to mention yummy. But I just got back from my doctors appointment and they confirmed my suspicion, I’ve gained weight. If you’ve been keeping up with me here on the blog I may have mentioned I had lots about 8 pounds. So it was heartbreaking for me to hear that I had gained most of my weight back over the summer. We ate out A LOT over our 10 cities in three weeks summer travels and I’m not one of those people that kind hide it.
So I’m back to trying to fit into my “skinny” (skinny for me) clothes that I bought before I went on our summer furlough. When I first heard about this secret ingredient I was a bit leery, to be honest. I love my morning or afternoon snack shake and the thought of it being ruined with this secret ingredient made me hesitant but I tried anyways. The results, shockingly amazing: thick and creamy chocolate shake. It was absolutely delicious and not mention it was super healthy. I love when my kids have no idea they’re enjoying their greens! It’s a definitely a kid-friendly snack or dessert.

This shake totally satisfies my sweet tooth and ice cream cravings. I don’t use bananas but if you want more of a natural sweetener and are trying to stay away from refined sugar add half a banana or use stevia or both if the stevia still doesn’t cut it. Play with it but be rest assured once you’ve got it down to your liking this will be come your go to sugar craving healthy snack. Since I’m partially going dairy free I use Almond milk or coconut water or coconut milk but feel free to use regular milk if that butters your biscuit. 🙂
Okay so you’re going to think it’s gross but I promise you it’s amazing! The secret ingredient is–the avocado. Yup, can you believe it–you can add avocado to your shake and it will turn it into a DELICIOUSLY creamy shake! And you can NOT taste the avocado.
No one ever knows my secret ingredient until I tell them. Avocados are super food and did you know technically they are a fruit. You can do the research yourself but here’s some info. I picked up along the way, they are: high in protein, packed with potassium and….
All this writing and thinking about my thick, creamy and delicious chocolate shake has made me hungry. I’m going to take a writing break and go enjoy one. See you in a bit.
Okay I’m back and once again–
it.
was.
delicious.
I even got to take a few more pictures for you so you can see the thickness of this chocolate yumminess in a cup. Here’s some tips I’ve learned along the cutting calories and fat:
- bananas are good but are a high in sugar fruit
- avocados have good fat in them (eat in moderation)
- flax seed meal can be added to anything and everything for added fiber
Thick, Creamy & Delicious Chocolate Shake (serves 1 tall glass or 2 small glasses)
- 1 sliver of avocado (see picture below for a visual)
- 1 tablespoon of cacoa (cacoa has a very strong taste so add more to your liking) or 2-3 tblspns cocoa
- 6-8 cubes of ice
- sugar to your liking – I use 1/4 tspn Stevia powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
optional: 1 tablespoon chocolate protein powder & 1 tspn flax seed meal
1. I only use a thin sliver of avocado in mine as I’m trying to watch the fat in my snack. Though it’s good fat, you still have to be careful.
2. Place all of the other ingredients inside blender. Mix and enjoy!
I took this picture in hopes to capture how thick and creamy it is. It doesn’t do justice but you get the idea. Curl up on the couch with one of these in place of a chocolate milk shake and satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt.
