This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Honda and Latina Bloggers Connect.
It started with their dream–give our children a better life.
An education. A future beyond what they could ever imagine.
They didn’t let fear of the unknown, the language barrier, the financial struggles, the reality of leaving their loved ones behind, hold them back.
My parents were dreamers.
My parents are the reason I can dream. Not only did they have a dream but they gave me space to dream. Have you seen that short video–Space to Dream? It’s absolutely precious and it reminded me of myself you can watch it .
My mom and dads spark was contagious and modeled through their courage, perseverance, stubbornness and love of life.
With them as my example. I also want to inspire my children to dream and not to let fear keep them from doing great things for God. That has been my personal life motto–Do not let fear keep me from doing great things for God whether it be in my home, in my community, for my kids, at the workplace or just for myself.
I encourage you to create an environment where they can discover their abilities, skills and talents but also have the freedom to fail in their pursuits. Thomas Edison failed at least 10,000 times before succeeded in his light bulb discovery. Not only that but he was also partially deaf and was basically “kicked” out of school because as his teacher said, “he was too dumb.” His mom believed in him enough to teach him at home. Thank God for mothers who believe!
I encourage you to ask yourself–Are you inspiring your children to dream through your example? Are you using your talents and abilities to your potential? Then ask yourself what else in your life could provide you with an outlet so you can share those talents and allow you to be a mother who, through your actions, teaches your children what it is to follow their dreams.
“Accordingly, you alone are responsible for the choices you make to be true to yourself. But if you’re driven by who you think you should be or by what others think you should be doing, then your children are not benefiting from experiencing all that you could be. We are all totally unique individuals, and so what provides fulfillment and passion for one does not necessarily for another. Some women feel very fulfilled in their roles as mothers while other women are not called to be mothers at all. There is absolutely no right or wrong here and judging other women’s choices generally says a lot more about how we feel about our own choices than anything else. If the life we are living allows us to express ourselves fully and is aligned with our own personal truth, it radiates from our presence. If you are being true to who you are in the world, you are giving your children the ultimate gift. By “letting our light shine” we are an example for how our children can shine theirs.” quote from Margie Warrell
Let’s give them space to dream! Find time to connect with your kiddos and discover what their dreaming about.
Giving Them Space to Dream
- You can do this at night before tucking them into bed, kids are really chatty then.
- Connect with them in the car on your way to appointments and running errands. Your time in the car has to happen right? So use it to your advantage!
- Go through their art work or writing assignments they bring home and see if you notice a pattern. Maybe they’re drawing tons of firefighter trucks. So ask them about it.
Did you see the video I mentioned above–Space to Dream? Well here it is for you to watch for yourself.
The car scene is a Honda CRV. We’ve owned different Honda models but I absolutely love the CRV! Everything about it but especially how spacious it is for a growing family and the video further relates this to how it provides space for dreams to develop.
