Sew In Love V-day Card

Contributor: Michael Ann

Valentine’s Day is coming closer and closer!
Here is a very quick and easy tutorial for a Fabric Valentine,
perfect for using up pretty scraps and bits,
and simple enough for beginning stitchers, grown-ups and kids alike!

You will need -

1 – A couple different bits and scraps of fabric. Use up your stash!
2 – Glue
3 – Blank cards
4 – Embroidery thread and an embroidery needle

First cut heart shapes out of your scraps. Make different sizes, layer them, freehand or stencil them, this is your time to be creative!

Then glue your hearts to the card. Rubber cement works well, but here’s a trick to make sure it really sticks – Paint both the heart and the card with rubber cement, then let both dry. Once dry stick the heart onto the card, but be careful, once adhered to the glued area it’s never coming off!

If you want to practice your stitching and add an extra detail, use a bit of embroidery thread to stitch around the outline of the hearts. This can be a great opportunity to teach a child how to sew, all they have to do is follow the outline!

Lastly, add a little message to the card, and you’re all done!
I hope that you all have a fantastically crafty Valentine’s Day!

These are a perfect idea for my daughter to do. She’s stitching a bear next to me right now, but she’d love making these heart cards.
