DIY Basket From Cereal Box

Thank you to Kleenex Hand Towels for sponsoring this post about how I’m making my bathroom guest-ready! To learn more about Kleenex Hand Towels or to find out how you can save money when you buy your own, check out this site.

Our guest bathroom is right next to our front door and it gets used a lot by little boys who are still learning to aim in the toilet and who have a habit of splashing everything when they are washing their hands.  On top of that it’s a dreadful country blue, help! Needless to say, our guest bathroom needs a womans touch.

Last year, I made some cute storage cans , decorating them with twine!

If you are new here, let’s keep in touch via Facebook or here.

Well, I took this idea a step further and made a bathroom storage organizer from a cereal box.  Can you believe it? This was a cereal box.  These baskets cost a good $12 at the store this cost me 0$ because I already had the supplies.

DIY Towel Basket

Supplies: Craft glue/hot glue gun, twine, large cereal box, fabric

1. First you need to cut the cereal box and tape up the end that you opened up.

2. Take some fabric and measure it around the cereal box and cut it that length and about 6 inches wide and glue it around the box.

3.  Fold fabric in half to 3 inches and glue.

4. Cover the box with twine by applying glue and pressing twine over it. Do that over the whole box.

5. Fold fabric over twine!

For our Burlap projects go here.

Update: I added feet to prevent the base from getting soaked.  I used large beads and glued them to the bottom.

I have been wanting to make something out of a cereal box. We throw so many away (well they are recycled, so that’s not too bad). Making a basket is a great idea as they are very pricey, but always come in handy!
