For me, Halloween cards are some of the funnest to make and give. I have more time to craft now compared to the winter holidays, and many of the Halloween stamps are just so darn cute! After playing at my craft table this afternoon I end up with three Halloween cards that are all different, but use the same stamp set. I love getting so much mileage out of my stamp sets!

All three cards start out with a solid color cardstock base. I’ve used the same “Happy Halloween” stamp to make the backgrounds. Orange ink on the orange cardstock base gives a nice tone-on-tone background that doesn’t call too much attention to itself and lets the focal point be the star.

For the focal point, we have a gray cat (not black, we’ve had our share of bad luck this month!) in the pumpkin patch. Before I stamped the dots, the cat and pumpkins looked like they were floating, so I added the dots to ground these elements. Fern leaves are die cut from black cardstock instead of the typical green to further the Halloween theme.

Next up is a cute witch dressed in purple. You’ll see the same “Happy Halloween” stamp on the background. This time it’s stamped in black, which makes for a high contrast on the white card. The background is much more noticeable and more of a design element than the tone-on-tone orange card above. To give it a little more interest, some of the “Happy Halloween” sentiments are in gray.

To break up the text a bit, I added a flying bat (stamped, cut out, and attached with a wire that’s bent in a circular flying motion). The witch hat is also cut out, crossing the gray background and reaching into the text.

For the final card, I jumped ahead to Christmas and borrowed some excess tinsel!

The Frankenstein focal point looked a little lost on the “Happy Halloween” background originally. So I gave him a green scallop background, a “boo” flag attached with the same wire I used for the flying bat above, and the Christmas tinsel. The tinsel is pressed into adhesive on the back, and then secured with tape on top. In addition to the sparkle, I like how it gives a sense of movement – the light strips of tinsel wave back and forth when you open the card.

The “Happy Halloween” stamp is at an angle on this card with a space left in between the sentiments. The bat stamp (from the witch card) is the perfect size to fit in those spaces. Another different card from the same stamp set.
