Last Minute No Sew Wizard of Oz Costumes

I’ve been  trying to figure out what I’m going to wear tonight to our girls night out costume party. I received lots of great suggestions on my Facebook Page. I especially liked this one,

After much consideration I came up with the idea of a no-sew Dorothy costume.

My kids joined in the fun but I can’t imagine going to the girls night party without them.  They are so adorable in their scarecrow and lion costume which by the way is also no-sew.

Dorothy Costume

Here’s what you need:

  • plaid fabric (I used thin flannel fabric I found in the baby section of the fabric store).
  • ribbon
  • fabric glue or silicone glue (I love my liquid silicone glue).

1. Take your fabric and cut it into 2 rectangles.  I just put the fabric in front of me and guesstimated how big I wanted my rectangles to be.

2. Then I glued the smaller rectangle under the larger rectangle in the middle, as shown above.

3. Take your ribbon and glue it onto the back of the fabric.

4. Take a small piece of fabric or ribbon and glue it to the top part of the rectangle.

As I mentioned I used thin flannel fabric so I didn’t to do anything to the edges.

I happen to love red shoes so I’m wearing my non-sparkly red heels with white socks.

The Scarecrow

The Scarecrow is really simple! Take a plaid shirt and a straw hat. I painted a rectangle on his cute little nose and of course you can add hay to make it more realistic but we don’t have any.

The Lion

And here’s A Night Owl’s Lion! He’s absolutely adorable and I love her mane idea using pom-pom balls!

Lion-Halloween-Costume

The cute little brave lion was also super easy!  Though I’ll start with I cheated because I used my sons old monkey costume and covered the head with yellow felt so you can’t see the monkey face.
