Dr. Seuss Counting Activity: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish… is a simple but fun activity for little ones!
Dr. Suess books are the best! Let’s celebrate his birthday with these fun activities.
For one of our 30 Days of Play Challenge (Parent Challenge) I came up with this activity for our sons. Well, I really didn’t have to do much because Mama Miss has this awesome printable over at her site so I just printed it out. We started by reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish… by Dr. Seuss and then we used the printable to create our own crafting and game fun!
Hearts fish craft:
You’ll need:
- hearts (variety of sizes)
- googly eyes
- glue
Since we did this in February, I had my son make fishies from hearts. He loved doing this and I realized he has great fine motor skills. He peeled the back of the adhesive hearts and glued the eyes on each fish all by himself. The Mama Miss printable I mentioned above actually comes with fishies for the game she created but we were in a crafty mood and the ink on my color printer was running out so we went with the crafty route.
As shown in picture above, we used a variety of heart shapes to make our fishies!

1. Roll the dice.
2. Count the dots on the dice.
