There’s nothing like a Dinosaur activity to get my boys excited! Their are lots of versions to the Dinosaur Eggs online: sand, clay, dirt and water (which is the one we did). This one was the easiest and I could manage to squeeze in our very long list of things to do to get ready for my sons 6th birthday party.
I made about 17 eggs in about 20 minutes. And though I introduced this as a fun boy activity all of the girls at the party thoroughly enjoyed the dinosaur egg hatching. I especially loved how the girls daintly threw the eggs on the cement all the while the boys are using all their might and cheering each other on as they watched the egg splatter all over the pavement into ice bits.
How to: I used both hands to open wide the balloon and then I had my 6 year old insert the dinosaur. I filled up the balloon with water and then tied a knot. Freeze them over night. Some weren’t totally frozen by the next day but it was fine because it made it easier to crack open.
Methods for cracking the dino egg:
1. butter knife – That’s what yo usee at the bottom right of the picture above.
2. Water- soak in water.
3. Salt
4. Hammer and screw driver
5. And when all else fails the 8 kindergartners we had over used this as their best proven method: cracking them on the cement.
