Who knew beets could be so good? This Berry Beet Smoothie proved it to me! I knew they were good for you but I seriously was dumbfounded when I took a sip of this smoothie and discovered how yummy this combo tasted. I have been experimenting with different smoothie flavors and a few months ago I came across a beet smoothie online. Honestly, I was afraid to try it because I thought it would have that gritty, grainy veggie taste. I was wrong, so very wrong.
Seriously, delicious! You will have to try this recipe to believe me. I know, I know you hate beets. I personally don’t care for them but in a smoothie packed with blueberries, raspberries and strawberries it’s a whole different story. The chain Jamba Juice even has a Beet Smoothie and it wouldn’t have made it on their menu if it was awful. Are you convinced yet?
When you’re mama told you to eat those beats because they are good for you, she was right. They are packed with antioxidants, rich in nitrates and they are great for the heart! Drink this as a snack, after a workout for breakfast….
Berry n’ Beet Smoothie
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cp of steamed or roasted beets (raw works as well)
- 3/4 cps of greek yogurt or vanilla if you need something more flavorful
- 5 large spinach leaves
- mixed berries of your choice (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 2 tsp honey
- 3/4 cps orange juice
- 6 ice cubes
1. Place all of the above ingredients in a blender. This makes 2 cups and you’ll wish you had made more. At least I did because I really wanted my kids to try it so that meant I could only have a small cup.
Enjoy the goodness! All three of my kiddos (8, 5 & 2 yr old) LOVED and asked for seconds (none to be had) but my husband said he could taste the beets. He’s never eaten a beet in his life so I think if I wouldn’t have told him there were beets in it he would not have said that.
