Strawberry Watermelon Slushie

watermelon slushie

Summer fun is here! The kids have been playing outdoors all day, every day!

That brings great joy to my heart. It also means, dirty, sweaty little faces constantly asking for some kind of frozen treat. I’ve been freezing yogurt and making yogurt pops for them.  It’s healthier than ice cream.  This slushie is also healthy with no added sugar needed!

I had a huge watermelon I forgot about so that gave me the idea of making a watermelon slushie! I think next time though I may mix it up a bit and make some with mint! Yum!!  The strawberry in this slushie isn’t very strong since the watermelon is an overpowering ingredient but it still made an impact with the lime.

Now doesn’t this look like it belongs in a 4th of July cookout!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups cubed watermelon
  • 8 strawberries
  • 1/3 cup lime juice
  • ice cubes

Place all of the above ingredients in a blender. My blender is small so I had to blend the first 3 ingredients first and then add the ice cubes. Also, my blender doesn’t do well with dry ingredients so I had to add 2 tbl of water to it.

Ours was fine without sugar since our watermelon was amazingly sweet. But if yours is not then add a couple of tablespoons of sugar or honey, to sweeten it up some.

Enjoy!
