I have always believed that creating doesn’t have to be expensive. One of my favorite stores to buy craft supplies is the dollar store. The items there can usually be repurposed and turned into something amazing with a little creativity. Like this chalkboard Summer countdown tray.
My children like looking forward to events, especially to Summer when my
oldest is out of school and the vacations begin. I wanted to make a chalkboard tray that they could use to countdown to the first day of Summer vacation. I made this an easy and inexpensive project by spray paining a serving tray I found at the dollar store.
After it dried I applied chalkboard vinyl to the center of the tray. Chalkboard vinyl can be found online or in craft stores (mine is from Hobby Lobby). As you can see below, you may get some air bubbles but you can easily smooth them out with a credit card.
To embellish the tray I added some washi tape and rick rack. I love how fun the colors are!
