Joy to the World is definitely a great song to describe the spirit of Christmas amongst our family and friends. Even if you don’t have much and are wondering why everyone is walking around with a smile on their face and you just want to yell “Bah, humbug”, I think if you pondered for a moment your blessings you would also discover a glimpse of joy!
One of the many “Joys” in my world during this Christmas season is that I am utterly thankful that Christ came to earth and I am so glad years ago someone thought of making Christmas the holiday to celebrate His birth. This gives me reason to sing in a loud voice (I must add off-key) “Joy to the World.”
Now onto the Christmas decor. If you have kids around who are looking for ways to get crafty with you this will be a great craft because it involves glitter. Have them help you spell JOY and then have them help you add all the bling to the letters. This simple wall hanging was created from things around our house like chalkboard, poster board, wreath, evergreen garland and some bling: glitter.

I freehand drew my J Y onto poster board. Cut it out. Then I added glue to the letters and sprinkled glitter until it was completely covered. I hung the garland on and then taped the letters and wreath to the chalk board and wrote “to the world”, with chalk. If you don’t have a chalkboard what we do here is use black matte paint and paint a board. It works just the same.
So easy and absolutely lovely. Great for your Christmas gathering or holiday party. It’s simple but the bling and contrast of green and red over the black board makes it stand out.
