Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie {Greek or Regular Yogurt?}

Chocolate peanut butter smoothie

This Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie is the ultimate chocolate indulgence for healthy or wannabe healthy people!

Can you believe the words, chocolate, peanut butter and healthy, can be in the same sentence?  This smoothie is my healthy version of the rich Chocolate Peanut Butter shake that my tall and thin husband indulges in whenever he wants. No, I am not bitter.

I have been trying to eat healthier since January and thankfully three months into it I am still going. Please note, I did not say “I am still going strong.”  It’s definitely hard to not indulge oneself and to show restraint and discipline.  So I have been looking for ways to indulge but in healthy chocolatey pleasures.  Are you craving chocolate? Chocolate and peanut butter?

Enjoy every single sip without the guilt!

Smoothies are one of the ways I sneak veggies into my boys meals. Here are some great recipes and they won’t even know they are enjoying veggies: Strawberry & Beet Smoothie,  Egg Muffins, Pina Colada Smoothie, Italian Zuchinni Boats…. and much more.

You can follow along via your favorite social network :Twitter,Pinterest orFacebook and our readers preferred way via email.

Greek vs Regular Yogurt

Here’s my nerdy research side coming out. Since I have been into smoothies for a healthy snack or breakfast I wanted to know what the difference is between greek yogurt and regular plain yogurt.  So I did some research and basically it boils down to: Greek has more protein, fewer carbs and half the sodium.  Regular yogurt has more calcium so if needing more calcium in your diet stick to regular yogurt. Greek is usually more expensive than regular Yogurt. They have about the same amount of calories. Greek yogurt is thicker than regular yogurt.

Lately, one of my favorite healthy sweet tooth cravings is this thick, creamy and delicious Chocolate shake.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cp of creamy peanut butter (add more if you want a strong PB taste)
  • 1 cp of greek or plain yogurt
  • 2 tbl of Cacoa powder or cocoa powder
  • 5 med/large spinach leaves (don’t worry you won’t taste them)
  • 1tsp of vanilla
  • 1 tbl of honey or sugar
  • 6 cubes of ice

Place everything in the blender and enjoy!

Sounds wonderful. There is a great Crock-pot yogurt recipe that looks easy to make. Could save some money.

Mama Fry, I wish I could make my own yogurt since we consume tons of it in my home.

Could you use another fruit/food other than banana? I’m allergic.

      Marisa,

Yes, I’ve made a chocolate peanut butter smoothie with avocados and it leaves it wonderfully creamy. So use avocados instead of bananas for a creamy smoothie or just leave them out.
