One of my favorite things about the Mexican culture is the bright and festive colors that we use in our celebrations. These Cinco de Mayo party favor bags are so fun and festive. They are made from “papel picado” and are the perfect party treat for your guest or even for your child’s class party.
I am going to walk you through on how to make some simple “papel picado” which is usually used for banners on the streets or parties.
You will need:
- tissue paper
- paper bags
- scissors
- glue
1. First figure out how wide and long you will need your papel picado. That is how long and wide you will cut your strip of tissue paper.
2. Then fold it in half twice.
3. Then add the following template with a marker on one side of your rectangle.
4. You will cut around the parts you drew in. The ovals in the middle I folded the paper in half over the oval and cut around it.
Fill the bags with your favorite treat and you’re done!
