Pray like you mean it and our November Prayer Calendar free for you to download and print!
When I was a little girl I had the beautiful example of a prayer warrior, my mother. But I must confess as a child I didn’t really see it as a wonderful trait. Usually it meant our family prayer time would last FOREVER and it annoyed me.
But now as an adult I am so thankful that she didn’t let our attitudes keep her from praying.
One of my fond memories of my mom is walking into her room and finding her knelt down with her hands clutched and her eyes closed. There by her bed in our home she would boldly go before the Lord petitioning Him on behalf of others.
Pray Like You Believe It
Some times it’s hard to know what to say or to know if our prayers align with God’s will. I totally get that and I’ve been there so many times. So many times our nightly prayer time with our children becomes this weak prayer ritual where we give thanks for our home and food–amen.
Here’s the thing though if I’m praying scripture back to God it’s full of His truth. When we pray scripture we are praying His words and it carries authority and power. The great thing is we don’t have to figure out what to say we just repeat back to him His word and personalize it by adding our child’s name to it.
We can boldly go before the throne of grace on behalf of our children and family. We can kneel down in His presence knowing that:
- I am His daughter
- He listens
- He sees you
- He cares about your concerns
- He will answer as He sees fit
When we pray scripture for our children we are saying I agree with your Word and I offer your very words back to you. Those painful obstacles that our children battle through can be changed for His glory on our knees.
We are in a battle against the enemy and his desire is to influence our children and our home. So moms, get your prayer boxing gloves on and let’s fight back with power of scripture. We can use scripture to fight back against the lies of the enemy. The scripture calendar can give you a focus verse for that day. It’s important not to just tell yourself I’m not going to think about that anymore but to replace the lie with truth.
If your mind is being attacked with lies about yourself, children, marriage and who God is–then go to your verse for that day and fill your mind with His truth. Find any scripture and replace those lies with truth. The truth of His word and the convicting power of His sprit can see us from wrong paths as well as our children we are praying over.
Let’s get our prayer on!

Here’s what
Here’s What I Do
I print off 3 copies and 2 of them are double sided copies of the calendar and scripture. Then each day of the week day I write the name of my boys and my husband.
This image is just the calendar but on the back side I printed off the scripture (links are below for the free printables).
So on Friday when I look at my calendar for this week I know it’s the day that I will cover my son Mateo in prayer. You can of course pray for all of your kids but I wanted to be intentional of making sure that I focus on one child each day.
I then flip my calendar over because I printed the scripture on the back of it and I look for Nov 3rd to find the verse 2 Timothy 1:7 then I personalize the verse and add my son’s name to it and pray it back to God.
Sweet Abba, You reside in Mateo! Today when he comes across a situation that fills him with fear help him remember that you have not given him a spirit of timidity but of power, love and self-discipline. In your name I pray. Amen
I keep a calendar in my purse, one on my fridge and one in my Bible. The copy in my purse gets used when I’m waiting in the checkout line, at a Dr.s appointment, or in traffic. I’ve also used it when I’m on a hike.
The other copy in my Bible is the calendar and in the morning when my kids are eating breakfast and doing their devotional I like to take it out and pray for them.
The one on my fridge is double sided with the scripture on the back and it’s for those days when I’m in a rush and then I’m reminded as I open my fridge that I need to go to my sweet Abba (daddy in Hebrew) on behalf of my family, friends, world and community.
