Back to School Party: Chalkboard Invitations

back to school party invitations

I have been dying to share with you our back to school party.  I like to live life and blog about it as it fits into my schedule so that sometimes means waiting a whole year before I can blog about something fun that we did.  One of our traditions is to  have a back to school party.  Before you think I have it all together because I throw a back to school party for my kids go over to Babble/Disney and read my post I just wrote on my new movement for 2nd Day of School pictures for Slacker Moms (me).

When my son started preschool I decided to start having back to school parties to get to know the parents and also for my son to get to know his classmates and teacher outside of a school setting.  We’ve had back to school parties with these themes: Dr. Seuss party, Ice Cream Social , Jungle and school.

Here are the fun invitations I made from, you won’t believe it, popsicle sticks.  They were so easy to make.

Check back later for more fun or follow along so you don’t miss all of our great post on crafting, cooking, kid activities and home decor…. via your favorite social network :Twitter,Pinterest or Facebook and our readers preferred way via email.

Back to School Party Chalkboard Invitations

supplies:

  • black construction paper
  • chalk
  • glue
  • popsicle sticks

1. First figure out how big you want your invites to be. It will depend on the size of your popsicle sticks if you want to use them just as they are without cutting, which is what I did.

2. Cut the construction paper the shape of a square, the size of your popsicle sticks.

3. Glue the popsicle sticks around the black construction paper.

4. Write the party invite info with chalk.  I didn’t have room for tons of info so I glued on the back a small note with the detailed info.

That’s it.  It didn’t take me more than 30 minutes to make 25 invites.

Check back because I will be sharing with you all of our back to school party with you. Here’s a sneak peak.
