Hilarious Parenting Advice

Throughout my life I have received lots of parenting advice on how to care for my children, some good, some not so good and some just straight up hilarious.  When we moved to South America the unsolicited advice was non-stop. Seriously everytime I walked out the house with my newborn someone had something to say to me, I even had a homeless little kid tell me I needed to put shoes on my baby.  It was dispensed freely by complete strangers, homeless people, children, men.... Establishing Your Home

What parent doesn't want to provide the best for their children, for our spouse? We want to build a home that is safe, strong and beautiful but this verse reminds me of some foundational things that I should also add to my desires for my family and home.  I am reminded to establish my home on: Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge.    Lectures, advice and whatever nuggets of wisdom we spout off to our children  our spouse are meaningless if we don't try to understand them first, if they don't know ... continue reading...

DIY Mini Piñata

Another fabulous craft to get you celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with the kids , a Mini Piñata.  As I mentioned before Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the culture of lots of countries.  I love that we get to share with our children how diverse the world is.  By exploring different Hispanic cultures they will realize at a young age that it entails such a variety of people, languages and countries. I remember the first time I had a Piñata for my child's birthday party and all of my none ... continue reading...

I decided to go with a burlap and lace theme for our dining room this Fall, I can't wait to share it with you.  It was simple and inexpensive to put together, so stay tune via Facebook, Twitter or Feedburner. For this project I just used things I had at home. I bought this "not my style" picture for $4 and trashed the picture and re-did the frame. I used Robins Egg ... continue reading...

Smoked Chicken Sandwich

Smoked Chicken Sandwich Contributing Writer: Lyuba Brooke This is a little different take on a chicken salad sandwich. Sometimes, I make my chicken salad with roasted chicken but this was the first time I made it with smoked chicken. I got some smoked chicken breast from a local smokehouse restaurant and the chicken salad turned out awesome. Ingredients: 2 cups of chopped, smoked chicken 2 crushed garlic cloves 1/2 cup chopped pecans 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/4 cup chopped sweet onion 1/4 ... continue reading...
