Camping with Kids: Packing Check List and Tips

October 19, 2012 by Inspired by Family Mag

I married into sweet tea and camping when I said "I do", to my amazing husband. Before marrying him I thought I loved camping but after going camping with his family for the first time I realized I was only a nominal fan of camping. His family knows how to camp and they love doing it.  One of our wedding gifts from his father was an enclosed white trailer filled with camping gear. I told you they love camping. I hope that this list is helpful even though I am sure my father in law would … [Read more...]

Recycled Sweater Craft: Trendy Boy and Girl Hat

October 19, 2012 by Inspired by Family Mag

Are you surviving winter?  Our weather here is so fickle so we usually layer in the morning with jacket, hat and scarf but by noon that has all been put away and then 3 o'clock hits and we are frantically looking for that jacket. We had an old sweater lying around that we couldn't donate because it had a hole. I hate to give clothes away that is damaged so I kept it just in case I figured out how to repurpose it.  Plus, I had a hard time parting with it because I loved how handsome my man … [Read more...]

Wishing Away the Moments

October 15, 2012 by geekandsassy

Contributing Writer: Virginia Davidson from Geeky and Sassy Wishing away the 70 degree weather in hopes of the 40's and 50's to come I am reminded how short-lived my desires can be. My discontentment in the weather may be a picture of my dissatisfaction with life at times. When I start focusing inward rather than outward (to others and the bigger picture) and upward (to God most importantly) I wish away the moments. The dirty diapers and toddler squabbles make me wish for my kids to grow up … [Read more...]

Halloween Cupcakes: Witch

October 11, 2012 by Inspired by Family Mag

In our house, tubs of frosting get eaten with a spoon (by my lean and long husband). So when we were asked to participate in the #CoolWhipFrosting Challenge I jumped on the opportunity.  I love to make things from scratch, I really do but when it comes to cakes and cupcakes I like to buy cake mixes.  Mostly because there is not a huge difference in taste, especially if you are buying the right brand and doctoring it up to your liking.  Below you will see how I doctored up some plain chocolate … [Read more...]

Deliciously Healthy Popcorn Balls

October 4, 2012 by Inspired by Family Mag

'Tis the season for popcorn balls. I am not sure what it is about fall and popcorn balls, but people love eating them.  We are on a semi-health kick in our house or maybe I guess I should say I am on a semi-health kick. Which means my family has no other choice then to join along since I do all of the grocery shopping and I am the chef, ha, ha, ha.  I have been trying lots of great healthy snacks that are really yummy and low in fat. Now if I can only remember what I tell my boys all the … [Read more...]
